Commission X Of The House Of Representatives Believes That President Prabowo Will Not Cut The Education Bansos Budget

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission X DPR RI, Then Hadrian Irfani believes President Prabowo Subianto will not cut the basic budget and social assistance (Bansos) for education.

Although currently, there is still a calculation of the efficiency of the education budget, especially the budget for the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendikti Saintek).

"God willing, President Prabowo is very committed and will not really cut the education budget," said Lalu Ari to reporters, Thursday, February 27.

Lalu Ari mengatakan, Komisi X DPR RI sudah bertemu dengan Menteri Pendidikan Tinggi, Science, dan Teknologi (Mendikti Saintek) yang baru Brian Yuliarto. Pihaknya, meminta Brian bisa menjadi pemimpin yang mengakomodir semua karyawan dan PNS di Kemendikti Saintek, sehingga tidak muncul kejacauan dan permasalahan internal lagi.

"Don't let non-technical matters happen again that will affect the performance of the Ministry of Education and Technology, Saintek," he said.

In a meeting with the Minister of Education and Technology, the House of Representatives Commission X also discussed budget efficiency for its ministry. Then Ari said that Presidential Instruction (Inpres) Number 1 of 2025 concerning Expenditure Efficiency in the Implementation of the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget and Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget for Fiscal Year 2025 is very clear about which items are affected by efficiency.

"There are a number of items that must be streamlined, such as official travel, workshops, technical guidance, ceremonial events, and other programs," said the legislator from the NTB II electoral district.

Then Ari emphasized that the basic education budget and social assistance (Bansos) for education were not affected by cuts. This is because the budget is very important for higher education.

"We underline the basic budget for education, and social assistance for education is not cut," he explained.

Then Ari revealed, initially the Ministry of Education and Technology's budget would be cut by around Rp. 14.3 trillion. But after being discussed with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives, the higher education budget will only be cut by around Rp. 6 trillion.

According to Lalu, this figure is the result of an agreement between the Ministry of Education and Saintek with Commission X of the DPR RI. The amount of the budget as a result of the agreement will be submitted to the Ministry of Finance (Kemenkeu).

"After we dissected it to save scholarships, BOPTN, and basic services for our education, including private university assistance. We found Rp 6 trillion in numbers. This is what is being done," explained Lalu Ari.
