Four Farmers In Sukabumi Struck By Lightning, 2 People Died

JAKARTA - Four farmers who were taking shelter in bamboo stalls in the Perhutani People's Plant Forest (HTR) area, precisely in Kertajaya Village, Simpenan District, Sukabumi Regency, West Java, were struck by lightning. Two people died

"As a result of this incident, two farmers died at the scene and two others were critical and suffered quite burns almost all over their bodies," said Head of the Emergency and Logistics Section of the Sukabumi Regency Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) Medi Abdul Hakim as reported by ANTARA, Wednesday, February 26.

Kran died as a result of being struck by lightning, namely Ahmad Saepuloh (36) and Abas (55).

Then the identities of the critical victims are Idris (62) and Dodo (23) residents of Pasirlame Village.

The victim who died has been taken by his family for burial, while the critical victim is currently undergoing intensive treatment at the Palabuhanratu Hospital.

This accident began when the four farmers were cleaning and preparing agricultural land in HTR Perhutani to plant cassava.

While on the move, the weather at that time was cloudy and the sound of lightning was occasionally heard, but the victims allegedly continued their work and only took shelter in saung when it rained heavily accompanied by lightning.

The atmosphere became even more tense when lightning took turns grabbing what was at the scene. The open saung condition caused lightning to strike the saung building and the four farmers and immediately the victim was unconscious.

Residents who knew about the incident immediately provided assistance and reported to the Babinsa personnel of Keraya Village. By working together, the victims were then evacuated to the Palabuhanratu Hospital.
