Children With Disabilities Become Victims Of Sexual Harassment In Jatinegara, 2 Perpetrators Arrested

JAKARTA - A case of sexual abuse of children with disabilities occurred in the Bidara Cina area, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta. The victim was a girl and was harassed twice by the perpetrators.

Chairman of the National Commission for Child Protection (PA) Agustinus Sirait confirmed the incident. His party has also monitored the harassment case.

Agustinus said that currently, the perpetrators of harassment have been arrested by the East Jakarta Metro Police PPA Unit. There are two perpetrators.

"Currently, the suspect is already at the East Jakarta Police. There are two perpetrators or suspects," Agustinus told reporters, Friday, February 21.

Agustinus confirmed that the victim of the abuse case was a child with disabilities.

"The victim is a child with a disability. Do not let this disabled child become a victim again for the next time," he said.

However, Agustinus has not been able to explain in more detail the chronology of the incident of the harassment case.

He also could not reveal the identity of the perpetrator because he was waiting for an official statement from the East Jakarta Police investigators.

"The initials (suspects) will later be explained from the Resort Police, we may both be on Monday. Both the chronology, the incident and later the articles that are suspected we will also be notified on Monday," he said.

Agustinus admitted that his party was committed to guarding cases of sexual violence that befell children.

"We are committed to continuing to protect children. Especially children's rights without exception, we must protect, especially for cases of violence," he said.

Meanwhile, the two perpetrators are still in the detention cell of the East Jakarta Metro Police. The two perpetrators are also still being investigated in-depth regarding their role.
