Operation Ahead Of Ramadan 2025, Police Secure 12 Drug Suspects In Banyumas

JAKARTA - The City Police (Polresta) of Banyumas, Central Java, secured evidence of methamphetamine with a total weight of about 684 grams.

The Head of the Banyumas Police, Police Commissioner Ari Wibowo, said that the disclosure of the narcotics trafficking case was part of an enhanced police operation in order to create conditions for security and public order ahead of Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijriah.

He explained that this police activity was carried out from January 20 to February 20, 2025, which was divided into two stages, namely the first stage on January 20-31 and the second stage 1-20 February 2025.

In the first phase, he said, his party revealed four cases of drug trafficking involving nine suspects with evidence in the form of 85.51 grams of methamphetamine, 3,982 items of G-list drugs, and 560 psychotropic items.

Meanwhile, in the second stage, he said, there were two cases involving three suspects with evidence of 783 psychotropic items.

In addition to drug cases, he said, his party also uncovered cases of circulation of alcoholic beverages, gambling, adultery or immorality, and thuggery.

"Thus, creating security and public order conditions in the form of routine activities with the targets that we are optimizing in the context of before Eid al-Fitr 1446 Hijri," he said at a press conference at the Banyumas Police Headquarters, Purwokerto, Banyumas Regency, Friday, February 21, which was confiscated by Antara.

Head of the Narcotics Unit, Police Commissioner Willy Budiyanto, revealed that the evidence for methamphetamine with a total weight of approximately 684 grams was obtained from the disclosure of four cases of methamphetamine and the development of the previous case.

In this case, he said, his party arrested a perpetrator who was on the wanted list (DPO) with the initials MM in the Contribution area, Banyumas Regency, on January 23, 2025.

When arrested, he said, his party secured evidence of methamphetamine weighing approximately 48 grams which had been disposed of by MM.

"Furthermore, we developed and arrested a person with the initials S whose house is not far from the location where MM was arrested. We also obtained evidence of methamphetamine from S weighing approximately 12 grams," he said.

He said that based on information from MM and S, information was obtained about other suspects with the initials YO, a resident of Purwokerto, who is a recidivist who has long been the target of the Banyumas Police Narcotics Unit operation because he has been circulating narcotics in the Purwokerto and Purbalingga areas.

During the arrest of MM and S, he said, YO was known to be in Bandung City, so the Banyumas Police Narcotics Satres Team left for the city.

"We are indeed a bit difficult because YO apparently knows that his network here has been arrested, so the person concerned had shifted and we needed time to find him," he said.

However, he said YO was finally arrested by officers while near one of the apartments on January 25, 2025.

During a search of the apartment occupied by YO, his party found methamphetamine packages that were ready to be distributed to the Purwokerto and Purbalingga areas weighing almost 500 grams.

According to him, YO is a dealer and has been circulating methamphetamine in the Purwokerto and Purbalingga areas since 2019.

In this case, he said, the methamphetamine-type narcotics called "Madu Super Strong" were sold by YO at a price of Rp. 1.7 million per gram because they were considered to have a higher effect than other methamphetamine which is usually sold in the price range of Rp. 1 million per gram.

"Alhamdulillah, we can catch them, so they can save the public from narcotics abuse," said Willy.
