Hasto Kristyanto Detained By KPK, PDIP Talks About Political Elements To Become A Target

JAKARTA - PDI Perjuangan (PDIP) declared the detention of Hasto Kristiyanto as a political element. In fact, it is considered an attack with the intention of littering the party.

PDI-P Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto has been detained by the KPK in connection with the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) for members of the DPR today.

"First, this is political detention and this is a new chapter that we consider an attack on our party," said PDIP DPP chairman Ronny Talapessy to reporters, Thursday, February 20.

The detention is considered to prove that Hasto Kristiyanto is indeed the target of prosecution. From the information obtained, the Secretary General of the PDIP must be detained before the implementation of the party congress.

Ronny also conveyed that one of the reasons Hasto was the target was his very important figure for the PDI-P.

"Why is it targeted? Because the role of a secretary general is very important in a political party organization," he said.

PDIP emphasized that the detention of Hasto Kristanto was an attempt to mess up the party. Because, there is no urgency behind the detention.

Based on concerns about escaping, Hasto is said to have always been cooperative in following the ongoing legal process.

"This detention is part of a political operation against the party," said Ronny.

Previously reported, PDIP Secretary General Hasto Kristiyanto was detained in connection with the bribery case for the interim replacement (PAW) of members of the DPR and the obstruction of the investigation.

Hasto will occupy the Branch of the State Detention Center from the East Jakarta Class I State Detention Center for 20 days and can be extended according to the needs of investigators.

Hasto was charged with Article 21 of Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption as amended by Law Number 20 of 2001 concerning Amendments to Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning Eradication of Corruption Crimes Jo. Article 55 paragraph (1) 1st of the Criminal Code.

As for the bribery case related to PAW, members of the DPR, the process will be carried out stimulus. This is because the investigation warrant (sprindik) issued on December 23, 2024, focuses more on the application of Article 21.
