Regarding Hasto Not Responding To Calls, MAKI: There Should Be A Form Of Respect For The Legal Process

"Everyone must respect the legal process. That Pak Hasto himself also explained that he would cooperate with the KPK," Boyamin told reporters quoted on Tuesday, February 18.

"That being called should be present," he continued.

Boyamin said that the KPK had respected Hasto's pretrial process. Thus, the politician should have come to fulfill the summons in the bribery case for the management of interim replacement (PAW) members of the DPR RI and the obstruction of the investigation.

Moreover, being submitting a pretrial should not be used as an excuse from the investigator's summons. "Not being present is the reason according to the law and it is considered that sufficient reason is when sick or there are activities that cannot be abandoned," he said.

"So, yes, in my opinion, Mr. Hasto was present for the examination. Because this should be in the context of mutual respect and the KPK yesterday also respected Pak Hasto by attending a pretrial hearing, coming, and giving evidence to the judges," continued Boyamin.

Previously reported, the KPK examined the Secretary General of PDIP Hasto Kristiyanto as a suspect in the bribery case for the interim replacement management (PAW) for members of the DPR RI and the obstruction of the investigation on Monday, February 17. This is the second request for information.

However, Hasto decided not to attend. His legal team asked for a postponement because the second pretrial submission had been made to the South Jakarta District Court (PN).

"Law enforcement at 08.30 WIB has come to the KPK to provide a letter regarding the request for postponement of Mas Hasto Kristiyanto's examination," said Chairman of the PDIP DPP for Legal Reform as well as Hasto's lawyer, Ronny B. Talapessy in a written statement, Monday, January 17.

Meanwhile, KPK spokesman Tessa Mahardhika said Hasto would be summoned again this week. Investigators consider the request for a postponement of the examination because it is filing a pretrial is not a proper reason.

“Penyidik menilai tidak ada alasan yang patut dan wajar untuk tidak menghadiri panggilan sebagai tersangka hari ini,” kata Tessa kepada wartawan di gedung Merah Putih KPK, Kuningan Persada, Jakarta Selatan pada hari ini, Senin, 17 Februari.

Tessa menyebut praperadilan memang menjadi hak tersangka. Tapi, proses ini tidak kemudian menunda penyidikan yang sedang berlangsung.
