Harvey Moeis' Attorney Denies About Cassation: Hasn't Accepted Mandate

According to him, Harvey Moeis has not given a mandate for other legal steps after the appeal decision. Moreover, a copy of the verdict has not been officially accepted.

"It is as if we have determined our stance for cassation. We emphasize that we have not received a mandate from the client to file an appeal. After all, until now we as attorneys have not received a copy of the decision of the Jakarta High Court," Ahmad told reporters, Tuesday, February 18.

An official copy of the appeal decision, said Ahmad, is important to determine further legal steps. Because, it is a study material for the legal team and its clients

"Once again we emphasize, if later we have received an official copy of the appeal decision, then we will analyze and review the judges' considerations in the appeal decision and then discuss with clients to determine the legal steps to be taken next," he said

In addition, the legal team will also not precede Harvey Moeis regarding the determination of further legal steps. Thus, it was reiterated that for now it has not been decided whether to file an appeal or not.

"The legal team will not precede the client and state that the client will file an appeal or not," he said.

On the other hand, Ahmad also mentioned several reports that the legal team would file an appeal. According to him, this is not true so it is hoped that this matter does not need to be responded to by anyone.

"Once again, we emphasize that the current news is untrue news," said Ahmad.

Pengadilan Tinggi (PT) Jakarta memperberat hukuman terdakwa Harvey Moeis, yang merupakan perpanjangan tangan PT Refined Bangka Tin (RBT), menjadi 20 tahun penjara terkait kasus korupsi pengelolaan tata niaga komoditas timah di wilayah izin usaha pertambangan (IUP) PT Timah Tbk pada tahun 2015-2022.

In addition to corporal punishment, the Panel of Judges of PT DKI Jakarta also sentenced Harvey to pay a fine of Rp. 1 billion, a subsidiary of 8 months in prison, and was sentenced to pay compensation of Rp. 420 billion.
