Bali Provincial Government Hands Over IDR 51 Billion PON And Peparnas Bonus

DENPASAR - The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Bali handed over bonuses for outstanding athletes at the XXI Aceh National Sports Week (PON) and the XVII National Paralympic Week (Peparnas) Solo in 2024 with a nominal total of IDR 51.96 billion.

Head of the Bali Education, Youth and Sports Office (Disdikpora) KN Boy Jayawibawa said the bonus was handed over to 391 people, consisting of 217 athletes and 141 coach and XXI PON officials, as well as 22 athletes and 11 Peparnas XVII coaches and officials.

"In the 2024 PON XXI Aceh-Sumut, the Bali contingent consisting of 217 athletes and 141 coaches/officials won a total of 134 medals, with details of 36 gold, 38 silver, and 60 bronze," said Boy, Monday, February 17.

This achievement places Bali in seventh place out of 39 participating provinces, so that out of a total of IDR 51 billion, IDR 46 billion was allocated to the Bali contingent at the XXI Aceh-North PON 2024.

The Bali Provincial Government detailed the distribution of bonuses for XXI PON athletes, namely gold medalists given Rp85 million-Rp220 million, silver medals Rp45 million-Rp95 million, bronze medals Rp20 million-Rp50 million, and bonus coaches Rp16.6 million-Rp220 million.

"Meanwhile, in Peparnas XVII in Solo, the Bali contingent consisting of 22 athletes and 11 officials managed to bring home 33 medals, consisting of 11 gold, seven silver, and 15 bronze, so that Bali was ranked 12th out of 33 provinces," said the Head of Bali Disdikpora.

As for the details, gold medalists get Rp108 million-Rp220 million, silver medals Rp91 million, bronze medals Rp47.5 million, and assistant athletes get similar amounts from Rp47.5 million-Rp220 million.

Boy said the Bali Provincial Government gave athletes bonuses and certificates of appreciation varied and had been determined based on the types of competitions they participated in.

Acting Governor of Bali Sang Made Mahendra Jaya admitted that he was touched and proud of the achievements of athletes and the opportunity to hand over this incentive for the remainder of his term of office.

"We are very aware that this achievement is not the result of a short journey, but the fruit of disciplinary training, tireless struggle, and the spirit of never giving up in facing various challenges," he said.

The athlete's bonus was only realized a few months after the implementation was completed because it adjusted to the cycle and procedure for determining the regional budget.

However, this is proof that the Bali Provincial Government is committed to supporting the development of sports and the welfare of athletes, so that they are more motivated to excel at the national and international levels.

"We want the fighting spirit of the athletes to be maintained and more developed, with this award, we hope that a new generation of athletes will be born who are able to bring Bali's name to shine at the national and international levels," said Sang Made.
