The Directorate General of Immigration of the Ministry of Immigration and Corrections continues to explore the existence of syndicates to determine whether or not other parties are involved in the case of three foreign nationals from Pakistan who try to enter Indonesian territory using suspected fake French passports.

Head of the Soekarno-Hatta Special Class I Immigration Office Johanes Fanny Satria said his party was conducting further investigations into the case.

"The Soekarno-Hatta Immigration Office is currently conducting a further investigation process or pre-investigation assisted by the Directorate of Supervision and Enforcement of the Directorate General of Immigration to further explore the involvement of syndicates or networks related to human smuggling," he said as quoted by ANTARA, Monday, February 17.

Three foreign nationals (WNA) from Pakistan with the initials SZR, TS, and MZ flew from Lahore, Pakistan, to Bangkok, Thailand, and continued their journey to Jakarta. They arrived at Terminal 3 of Soekarno-Hatta International Arrival on Wednesday (12/2).

SZR, TS, and MZ are about to transit in Indonesia with their main destination to Europe, but that intention was not conveyed. They did not make it into Indonesia because the French passport used when passing the autogate engine was not detected.

After repeatedly trying to pass, the autogate engine cannot scan the passport used. Because it has not been detected, the immigration officer then became suspicious and carried out further examinations of the three Pakistani foreigners.

Furthermore, the immigration authorities found that SZR, TS, and MZ turned out to be aimed at countries in Europe. They obtained a fake French passport from a Sri Lankan foreigner with the initials WJ known as Facebook.

The three Pakistani foreigners agreed to pay US$1,000 or around Rp. 17 million to WJ in exchange for making the French passport.

WJ advised SZR, TS, and MZ to transit in Indonesia before leaving for Europe. WJ also advised the three people to use Pakistani passports upon arrival in Thailand and be replaced with French passports upon arrival in Indonesia.

According to Fanny, the perpetrator SZR, who is suspected of being the main actor, visited Indonesia on January 2, 2025. The goal at that time was to learn how to enter Indonesian territory.

When he first came to Indonesia, SZR used the correct identity so that a travel document error was not detected and managed to return to his country with a real passport.

Then, on February 12, 2025, SZR tried to return to Indonesia with two other people who were also Pakistani foreigners. However, they used a French passport that was allegedly fake, instead of a Pakistani passport.

"So, indeed the motive is for criminal acts of human smuggling, for transiting in Indonesia, to then go to a third country, namely the goal is to go to Europe, so use a fake French passport," said Fanny.

The three Pakistani foreigners are being questioned by officers for alleged immigration crimes, namely the act of using fake travel documents.

They were charged with Article 119 Paragraph (2) of Law Number 6 Year 2011 concerning Immigration with a maximum imprisonment of five years and a maximum fine of IDR 500 million.
