Price Stabilization, Pusbarindo Holds Cheap White Bawang Market In Three Cities

JAKARTA - A number of food prices have the potential to soar ahead of the holy month of Ramadan which will have an impact on decreasing my purchase of people.

Therefore, the Association of Indonesian Umbi Garlic and Vegetable Business Actors (Pusbarindo) is making efforts to stabilize food prices, especially garlic.

One of the efforts made was to hold a ' Cheap White Bawang Gelar' in three cities. The activity took place from Thursday, February 13 to 20, 2025.

"This event will be held at the Kramat Jari Main Market in East Jakarta, Tanah Tinggi Tanah Tinggi Market in Tangerang, Sidotopo Main Market in Surabaya and Pabean Market in Songoyu and Surabaya," said Pusbarindo Chairman Reinhard Antonius M Batubara to reporters, Friday, February 14.

In this activity, the price of garlic is set at around Rp. 29 thousand per kilogram. Of course, this price is below the general price.

It is known, based on the latest socialization data from the National Food Agency or BAPAS, the Sales Reference Price (HAP) of garlic reached IDR 40 thousand per kilogram at the consumer level.

"It is hoped that it can effectively stabilize the price of the garlic market at the consumer level, which has experienced an upward trend in recent times," said Antonius.

To maximize price stabilization, Pusbarindo provides around 100 tons of garlic in the ' Cheap White Bawang Gelar' activity in the three cities.

The details are 50 tons for the Jakarta area and its surroundings and the rest for the Surabaya area.

Thus, the public does not need to worry about the availability of garlic which is one of the factors in the price spike.

"We also appeal to distributors and retailers to maintain smooth distribution that is evenly distributed to the consumer level," said Antonius.

On the other hand, Pusbarindo also asked for support from all stakeholders to maintain food security according to President Prabowo Subianto's instructions.

"Together, we maintain food security and smooth distribution of garlic so that the community needs are met," said Antonius.
