Examination Of KKB Member Yalimo Shooting Brimob Member Transferred To Papuan Police

JAKARTA - Head of Operations for the Cartenz Peace Task Force Brigadier General Faizal Rahmadani said the investigation of Nikson Matuan, a member of the Yalimo Armed Criminal Group (KKB), was transferred to the Papua Headquarters in Jayapura.

The process of moving NiksonMatuan to be carried out on Thursday from Elelim, the capital of Yalimo, Papua Mountains, using a P3003 helicopter directly to Sentani Airport, Jayapura Regency, Papua.

"Arriving at Sentani Airport, Nikson Matuan, who is a member of the KKB led by Askel Mabel, was immediately taken to the Special Criminal Directorate of the Papua Police in Jayapura," Faizal said as quoted by ANTARA, Thursday, February 13.

He said Nikson Matuan was involved in the shooting case of Brimob member Brigadier Iqbal Anwar Arif on January 17, 2025, who died while patrolling and crossing the Trans Papua road.

"In initial information, NIkson Matuan admitted to being involved in the shooting in Hobakma Village, Elelim District, Yalimo Regency, Papua Mountains, which killed Brigadier Iqbal Anwar Arif," said Faizal.

Nikson Matuan was arrested by the Cartenz Damai Task Force on Sunday, February 2, 2025, along with two AK 47 firearms along with two magazines and ammunition he was carrying.

"The two firearms belonged to the National Police which Askel Mabel took from the Yalimo Police along with two other weapons which are still in the hands of the KKB," said Faizal.

Askel Mabel has now been fired from a member of the National Police and has become a fugitive by the police.
