Surut, Floods In Matraman Underpass Because Pumps Are Damaged

The Central Jakarta Bina Marga Sub-Department said that the flood that inundated the Matraman underpass, Central Jakarta, as high as 50 centimeters was caused by the stationary pump engine which was not functioning optimally.

"The pump is not functioning optimally, it will be repaired thoroughly. Currently (floods) underpasses have receded, but handling is still being carried out," said Head of the Central Jakarta Highways Sub-dept., M Sholeh, when confirmed, Sunday, February 9.

The inundation incident at the Matraman underpass was triggered by heavy rains that occurred from Friday night to Saturday morning.

Soleh ensured that after it was discovered that the cause of the pump not functioning optimally, a thorough repair would be carried out.

"After the cleaning process is complete, our underpass will reopen," he said.
