Thousands Of Buddhists Do Magha Puja At Borobudur Temple

MAGELANG - Thousands of Buddhists carried out Magha Puja 2568 BE/2025 in the Borobudur Temple Lumbini Park area in Magelang Regency, Central Java.

The Director General of Bimas Buddha of the Ministry of Religion Supriyadi in Magelang, Saturday, conveyed this activity in a series of commemorations of the religious holiday of Buddhism.

Magha Puja is the meeting of the Buddhist with 1,250 monks without being invited. At the peak of this activity, the monks and Buddhists performed pradaksina at Borobudur Temple.

He explained that Magha Puja was to recall the incident in which the Buddhist named 1,250 monks directly and they came without being invited.

"Our message is to celebrate religious holidays, not just celebrating, but the point is that we remind Buddhist students of the Buddhist teachings that are carried out directly," he said, quoted from ANTARA, Saturday, February 8.

He stated the importance of people doing acts of kindness, virtue, and defamation of the heart and mind.

"These three things seem easy, but quite difficult to implement because they need commitment and vigilance," he concluded.
