Support The Government To Prevent The Smuggling Of Goods, Deputy Head Of DPR: It's Time For The Ministry To Improve

JAKARTA - Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Cucun Ahmad Syamsurijal appreciated the achievement of President Prabowo Subianto's administration, which in 100 working days succeeded in thwarting more than 6,000 illegal acts of smuggling of goods. According to him, it is time for all ministries/institutions to improve themselves to protect the country from losses due to smuggling.

"We must support Pak Prabowo's direction to ensure partiality to the domestic industry and MSMEs," said Cucun, Saturday, February 8.

Cucun pun meminta agar kementerian/institution terus mempertahankan kinerja maksimal seperti ini, tanpa perlu menunggu instruksi dari presiden.

"It's time for all stakeholders to clean up both ministries and institutions, especially the Ministry of Finance which has the Customs authority, the key is in Customs and Excise if imports," he said.

The PKB legislator from the West Java electoral district also praised President Prabowo's seriousness in taking firm action or action against illegal smuggling perpetrators. According to the Government, this effort is carried out to maintain economic stability while protecting consumers from harmful or fake goods.

"This is also a form of state alignment with domestic industries and MSMEs. This can help economic growth and increase downstreaming and industrialization in the country such as the President's vision and mission," said Cucun.

As is known, President Prabowo Subianto asked his staff to pay attention to sharing the threat of domestic industry, especially in the fields of garment, textiles, electronic goods, cigarettes, and alcohol on the first 100 working days of the Red and White Cabinet.

At Prabowo's direction, various ministries/agencies then took action against smuggling goods. As a result, 6,187 prosecutions were carried out during 100 days of the Red and White Cabinet at work.

This was reported by the Government through the Decree on Prevention and Eradication of Smuggling a few days ago. The total value of thwarted smuggling reached IDR 4.06 trillion, and the potential loss that the government could prevent reached IDR 820 billion.

The prosecution of smuggled goods was carried out by various Institutional Ministries, namely the Ministry of Finance, the Coordinating Ministry for Political and Security Affairs, the Police, the TNI, the Attorney General's Office, the Ministry of Trade, the Ministry of Industry, the Quarantine Agency, and other Ministries / Agencies.

The goods resulting from smuggling during the 100 working days of the Red and White Cabinet include tobacco, liquor, textiles and accessories, steel, electronics, cosmetics, wood, and rattan.

Desk also secures the potential for bio security from animals and smuggled plants. Such as long-tailed monkeys, pigs, birds, chickens, lobsters, meat, rice, seeds and plant seeds, fruits, and ornamental plants.

The results of the prosecution carried out by the Government within 100 working days were obtained from various locations. As many as 49 percent at the port, 15 percent at the airport, 10 percent on the coast and others, such as on highways or tied areas.
