KH Hasyim Asy'ari's Name Is Missing, PKS: If It's Intentional, It's Historical Treason
Chairman of the PKS DPR Faction, Jazuli Juwaini (ANTARA)

JAKARTA - Chairman of the PKS DPR Faction, Jazuli Juwaini, assessed that the circulation of the Indonesian History Dictionary manuscript which did not include the founder of Nahdlatul Ulama (NU), Kiai Hasyim Asy'ari, as a figure who played a major role in the history of struggle and independence, was negligent.

According to him, the mistake showed the drafting team's lack of understanding of the nation's history. Moreover, a number of foreign names appeared.

"All the nation's children must fully understand the history of the Indonesian nation and no one should break the chain of the history of the nation's journey. Therefore, if this is deliberate, it is a betrayal of history," said Jazuli Juwaini, Tuesday, April 20.

The member of Commission I of the DPR emphasized that even books or those that are still in draft form, must be immediately withdrawn from circulation because they could mislead the nation's children.

Jazuli stated that Hadratus Syekh Hasyim Asy'ari as the founder of NU was absolutely included in any historical document because of his extraordinary role and work during both colonial and independence times.

He reminded, KH. Hashim as the founder of NU with his jihad resolution, which is known to be able to raise the fighting spirit of the Indonesian people. As well as its role, as a reference when this nation forms the basis of the state and the constitution of the state.

"Don't break the historical chain. Don't forget the services of this nation's great scholars," he said.

Jazuli appealed to the Ministry of Education and Culture to compile a curriculum and national materials that are valid and have no deviation and are required to be taught in schools from elementary to high school levels.

"The government must immediately clarify and withdraw the draft of the manuscript in circulation, and investigate the motive for not including Hadratus Syekh Hasyim Asy'ari," Jazuli concluded.

Previously, the Ministry of Education and Culture stated that the draft circulating in the form of softcopy was not official. Kemendikbud also stated that the draft was not from them. The ministry which is led by Nadiem Makarim is also in the process of perfecting the Indonesian History Dictionary book.
