"The report we received on Thursday evening, KKB killed Jararu (67) whose body was found by a resident in the middle of the road who then reported it to the nearest security post," said Kapendam XVII/Cenderawasih Colonel Inf Candra Kurniawan when confirmed in Jayapura, Antara, Friday, January 31.

After receiving the report, the body was evacuated to Dekai Hospital. "The barbaric action carried out by the KKB will be dealt with firmly by the security forces who are currently pursuing it," said Kapendam Colonel Inf Candra Kurniawan.

According to him, the victim of the late Jaharu suffered lacerations from sharp weapons (parang) on the face to the nose.

"It has not been confirmed whether the victim's body will be evacuated to be buried in his hometown or in Dekai," said Kol Inf Chandra Kurniawan.

When asked about the identity of the perpetrator, Kol Inf Chandra said, it was not known for sure because it was still under investigation.

"Security forces are still investigating to find out who the perpetrators of the attack on civilians," said Kapendam XVII Cenderawasih Col. Inf Chandra Kurniawan.
