Crowded With Employee Demonstrations, Minister Of Education And Technology, Saintek Satryo Soemantri Withharted Rp46 Billion

JAKARTA - Minister of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Mendikti) Saintek Satryo Soemantri is in the spotlight today. He was demonstrated by his employees for allegedly committing violence and unilateral dismissal of state civil servants (ASN) in his work.

Then, how much is Satryo's wealth?

Based on data from the state administrator's assets report (LHKPN) submitted to the KPK, Satryo recorded a wealth of Rp46,050,000,000. The data was submitted on December 7, 2024.

Of this amount, he recorded ownership of land and buildings worth Rp.33,650,000,000. The locations are in South Tangerang, Tangerang, Buleleng, and South Jakarta.

Satryo also has four cars with details of the 2016 BMW X3 which is worth IDR 400 million; BYD Seal in 2024 for IDR 700 million; Toyota Innova Reborn in 2020 worth IDR 200 million; and Ford Escape in 2011 with a value of IDR 100 million. So that this total asset reaches IDR 1.4 billion.

Still quoted from the LHKPN, Satryo has cash and cash equivalents whose value reaches IDR 11 billion. He has no debt so there is no reduction in assets.

Previously reported, employees of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) held a demonstration at the Ministry of Education and Technology office. This action was triggered by employee unrest which assessed that the Minister of Education and Technology, Satryo Soemantri Brodjonegoro, was arbitrary towards his subordinates.

In front of the building, Monday, January 20, they unfurled a black and white banner that read "The state institution is not Satryo's private company and wife!". There is another banner that reads "we are ASN, paid by the state, working for the state, not family chapter."

The chairman of the Dikti Employee Association, Suwitno, revealed that this action was motivated by the unilateral dismissal of Prahum Muda and Pj. Rumah Tangga, Neni Herlina. Neni was fired suddenly by Satryo for unclear reasons.

"Mrs. Neni actually serves the comfort of the household in this ministry. There may be a misunderstanding in carrying out her duties and it becomes slander or suuzon that Mrs. Neni accepts something, even though she did not," Suwitno told reporters, Monday, January 20.

So, from this demonstration, the Ministry of Education and Technology employee wants President Prabowo Subianto to respond to allegations of Satrio's arbitrariness in leading the ministry.

"We are more about conveying it, especially to officials or to the President who actually appointed him as a minister. Well, if it's like this, will it continue or not? An official should be an example, especially in higher education," he explained.
