The Directorate General Of Immigration Denies Chinese Citizens Sogok Customs Officers At Airports

JAKARTA - The Directorate General of Immigration has opened his voice about the viral video of a Chinese citizen allegedly bribing officers to get a customs green lane at the airport.

In his official X account, the Directorate General of Immigration denied the narrative of the strike revealed by the Chinese citizen.

"We convey that this video is not true," wrote the account @ditjen_imigration, quoted on Sunday, January 19.

The Directorate General of Immigration emphasized that the actions of foreign nationals with Customs and Excise officers at Soekarno Hatta Airport as in the video are not true.

"It has been confirmed directly that the officer did not ask for or receive any compensation from the foreigner. In the video there is also absolutely no evidence that the officer did this," he said.

From the results of the inspection, the Directorate General of Immigration confirmed that the two Chinese citizens in the video passed at Terminal 2 arrivals by autogate, so they did not go through manual counters with immigration officers.

"The chronology data has been adjusted to the CCTV footage, which proves that the officers did not request and receive anything from the person concerned," he explained.

For information, in the video, a man from China arrived at Soekarno Hatta Airport and showed Rp500 thousand in cash that was tucked into his passport.

The Chinese citizen admitted that he did this to get a green route and did not need to be checked upon arrival in Indonesia.
