Two Districts In Bandar Lampung Affected By The Worst Flood

Deputy Mayor of Bandar Lampung, Deddy Amarullah, said that there were two sub-districts in the city that were worst affected by the floods that hit the city on Friday, January 17, 2025.

"Almost all of Bandar Lampung City was hit by heavy rains. The worst affected areas were Way Lunik, Panjang District, and Pakuwon Building in South Betung Bay," he said in Bandar Lampung on Saturday, January 18, 2025.

He said that the flood that hit the area in South Betung Bay was due to water sent from Pesawaran, resulting in overflows in the Belau River which caused the surrounding houses to be submerged in water.

"We have seen the flood position. We are friends of a team from the Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPDB), the Fire Department (Damkar), the Transportation Service, and Pol PP and all related teams have gone to the field to evacuate," he said.

He also said that until now the Bandar Lampung City Government is still collecting data on the number of houses affected by the flood and the number of victims who died.

"We also received information that there were two or three victims who died, it is not clear how many, but in Waylunik there was one who died from electrocution," he said.

He also appealed to residents, especially those affected by the flood, not to sleep or rest in houses that have been submerged in water to maintain their health.

"Yes, we also asked the houses that were flooded not to be used to rest first. If there is a second floor, go ahead there," he said.

He also said that currently residents affected by the flood can rest at the nearest mosques or prayer rooms while being recorded by officers.

"There must be assistance from the Bandar Lampung City Government, but we will first record how many residents were affected," he said.

It is known that heavy rains that flushed Bandar Lampung City on Friday with high intensity and long period of time affected a number of areas in the local city by severe flooding.

Floods that hit areas in Bandar Lampung have a different height from the lowest being on the waist of an adult.

The flood also made four-wheeled vehicles in Waylunik swept away by the water current. In fact, Jalan Yos Sudarso heading to Panjang District is difficult to pass by four-wheeled and two-wheeled vehicles.

Then also, the suspension bridge located at the Sumur Putri tourist location was destroyed due to the heavy overflow of water sent from the river roots.
