Friday January 17: Potential Heavy Rain Occurs In Sumatra And Kalimantan, Be Careful!

JAKARTA The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) predicts that the weather in a number of major cities in Indonesia on Friday, January 17, 2025, has the potential to rain with varying intensity.

BMKG forecasters, Satriana Roguna, explained that in Java, cities such as Serang, Jakarta, Bandung, Yogyakarta, and Surabaya are expected to experience light to moderate rain. Meanwhile, Semarang has the potential to experience heavy rain.

In Sumatra, similar weather is expected to occur with light to moderate rain in Banda Aceh, Pekanbaru, Tanjung Pinang, Bengkulu, and Jambi.

However, some areas such as Medan, Padang, Palembang, Pangkal Pinang, and Lampung have the potential to experience heavy rains.

For Bali, light to moderate rain is expected to fall in Denpasar and Kupang. Meanwhile, Mataram is predicted to be shrouded in cloudy weather.

Meanwhile, in Kalimantan, most areas such as Tanjung Selor, Palangkaraya, and Banjarmasin are expected to experience heavy rain. Samarinda is predicted to experience light rain, while Pontianak is expected to be foggy.

In the Sulawesi area, Manado is expected to experience heavy rain. Meanwhile, Gorontalo, Makassar, Palu, Mamuju, and Kendari will experience light to moderate rain.

For Eastern Indonesia, light to moderate rain is expected in Sorong, Nabire, Ambon, Jayawijaya, Ternate, and Merauke. Meanwhile, Jayapura and Manokwari have the potential to be shrouded in fog or thick weather.
