Member Of The House Of Representatives: Support Prabowo Holds Retreatment Of Regional Heads: Momentum Equating Vision And Preventing Corruption

JAKARTA - Member of Commission II of the DPR Indrajaya supports President Prabowo Subianto's plan to hold a retreat or briefing for elected regional heads.

According to him, this activity could be a momentum to equalize the vision between the central and regional governments, as well as a means to prevent corruption in the regions.

Indrajaya said that the retreat activities that had been carried out for the ministers of the Red and White Cabinet in Magelang were a good program. This is good if it is done for elected regional heads.

"We are very supportive because the activity is positive for leadership at the regional level in the future," said Indrajaya, Monday, January 13.

The PKB legislator for the South Papua electoral district said that the treatment program that the Minister of the Red and White Cabinet had undertaken could reap several benefits. First, to equalize the vision - the president's mission with regional heads.

The President, said Indrajaya, could convey his government's vision and mission for the next five years. So, every regional head can equalize the direction of leadership and development that they will carry out in the next five years

"In implementing the program, elected regional heads can adapt to the president's vision and mission. So, between local governments and the central government, they do not go their separate ways," he said.

Second, retreat activities can be used to increase leadership capacity. According to Indrajaya, this is very important because many elected regional heads do not have experience in leading their regions.

"So it is necessary to provide leadership before going to the community. From a capacity perspective, they must be ready," he explained.

Third, the treatment can be used to strengthen their integrity in leading. An increase in integrity can prevent corruption in the regions.

So far, Indrajaya assessed, many regional heads have been dragged into corruption cases. Either caught in a sting operation (OTT) or the development of corruption cases handled by law enforcement agencies.

Since the Pilkada was rolled out, starting in 2005-2018, it was revealed that 348 regional heads as a result of the Pilkada were caught in corruption. Furthermore, in 2021, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) released an increase in the number of corrupt regional heads in 2010-2019 to 429 convicts.

"President Prabowo has been committed to preventing and eradicating corruption from the start. All regional heads must support and imitate Pak Prabowo's commitment," explained the PKB politician.

Fourth, the treatment can be to strengthen the sense of nationalism and patriotism of regional heads. Indrajaya hopes that regional heads can love the country more, so that they are willing to fight and work hard to advance their respective regions.

"Retreatments need to be implemented immediately. The time is still quite long before the inauguration. We really support President Prabowo's idea," concluded Indrajaya.

Previously, Coordinating Minister for Law, Human Rights, Immigration and Corrections Yusril Ihza Mahendra revealed that President Prabowo Subianto planned to hold a retreat by collecting all elected regional heads from the 2024 Pilkada. However, he has not revealed when the regional head's retreat will be held and where it is located.

"The President's wish is that all regional heads will be collected as before. Ministers, deputy ministers and heads of agencies are gathered in Magelang," said Yusril at the Presidential Palace, Jakarta, Friday, January 10.

"Moreover, now that it is related to the area, there must be synchronization between the center and the regions, the central government program so that local governments are also implemented," he continued.
