Here Is The Name List Of 30 Guests Who Will Attend Prince Philip Mountbatten's Funeral

JAKARTA - Buckingham Palace has revealed 30 people who will attend the funeral procession of Prince Philip Mountbatten, Duke of Edinburgh on Saturday 17 April.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, Prince Philip's funeral will be much shorter and simpler, with only a handful of people in attendance.

"However, the ceremony will retain the colorful traditions of the royal funeral and is a reflection of the Duke's military affiliation and a personal element of His Majesty's life," a spokesman for Buckingham Palace said, as reported by CNN, Friday, April 16.

The palace spokesman said the work-family was grateful and grateful for the messages of condolence sent from around the world since Prince Philip died last Friday at Windsor Castle.

"The awards received from young and old alike are truly a testament to Your Majesty's extraordinary life and enduring efforts," he added.

More than 700 Armed Forces personnel from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army, and Royal Air Force will provide ceremonial support during the funeral.

Prince William and Harry will reunite to walk behind the coffin of the Duke of Edinburgh with their father, Charles, and other members of the royal family, as part of a private procession ahead of Saturday's funeral ceremony.

While Queen Elizabeth II will not take part in the pre-service procession, Prince Charles and his sister Princess Anne will join a specially modified Land Rover, which will carry the Duke's coffin to the chapel. The journey is estimated to take about eight minutes.

Their siblings, Prince Andrew and Prince Edward will participate in the procession right behind them. William and Harry will come next even though they will be separated from walking together by their cousin Peter Philips. And behind them will be the last of the family members, Anne's husband, Vice Admiral Tim Laurence, and the Earl of Snowdon.

Nobles not involved in the procession such as Camilla Duchess of Cornwall and Catherine Duchess of Cambridge (Kate Middleton) will join Queen Elizabeth II to watch the funeral parade outside the Chapel of Galilee. It also includes blood relatives from the Duke's side who will attend including the late Prince Philip's nephews, Hereditary Prince Baden and Prince Hohenlohe-Langenburg.

The decision of some royals to walk behind the coffin is sure to draw comparisons to Princess Diana's funeral in 1997 when Charles, William, and Harry participated in a similar procession along with Prince Philip and Princess Diana's brother, Earl Spencer.

"The commemoration of Saturday will not be like any other royal funeral recently due to the coronavirus pandemic. Congregations will wear masks during the service," said a palace spokesman.

In line with the late Prince Philip's wishes, it will be a ceremonial funeral, not a state occasion and all arrangements will take place inside Windsor Castle without public involvement to ensure compliance with COVID-19 protocols.

Contrary to the existing tradition, members of the royal family will not wear military uniforms, and instead wear morning coats with medals or day clothes, the spokesman added.

The subject of clothing emerged in recent days after several British media reported Prince Andrew wanted to wear the admiral's uniform. Andrew stepped down from his royal duties in 2019 over links to Jeffrey Epstein

The decision on the uniform will also resolve the dilemma facing the royal family, as Prince Harry recently lost his honorary military title when he chose to step down as senior royals with his wife Meghan Markel last March.

During the service, a four-person choir will sing the late Prince Philip's selected music for the event. They will be seated in the center, socially distant from the assembled family members and close servants. One notable absence was the lack of congregational singing which is currently prohibited by public health guidelines.

After the service, the coffin will be dropped off in the Royal Vault below the chapel while the choir sings the national anthem.
