Kakortas Tipidkor Explains The Reason For Firli Bahuri's Repeated Examination In Extortion Cases

JAKARTA - Head of the Corruption Eradication Corps (Kakortas Tipidkor) Inspector General Cahyono Wibowo revealed the reasons behind the repeated examination schedule against Firli Bahuri, former Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), regarding the alleged extortion case against former Agriculture Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo. One of the reasons is the existence of points that require further classification.

"There are several things that must be clarified to Mr. FB," said Inspector General Cahyono, Tuesday, December 10.

Cahyono explained that the step was taken as a follow-up to fulfill the P19 instructions from the research prosecutor at the Jakarta High Prosecutor's Office. However, the details of the points that need to be clarified are not disclosed.

Firli Bahuri was again absent from the scheduled examination schedule on November 28. Through his attorney, he stated that the absence was caused by other activities.

Cahyono also highlighted discussions with the Polda Metro Jaya regarding Firli's often absent response. Even so, he emphasized that this case must still be handled thoroughly.

"We have discussed that this must still be resolved with fellow investigators from Polda Metro Jaya," he said.

Firli Bahuri's attorney, Ian Iskandar, said his client considered the extortion charges did not meet the material requirements. This, according to him, is evident from the case file which was repeatedly returned by the Prosecutor's Office for incomplete reasons.

"The legal reason shows that the allegations do not meet the material requirements. The reverse of the case files is evidence," said Ian on November 28.

Ian also stated that his party had asked the Polda Metro Jaya to stop handling this case because it was deemed not to have a fairly strong legal basis.
