Viral Video of Child Beaten and Abused, Police Arrest Parents

JAKARTA - The police arrested a husband and wife with the initials YT and ML for abusing their five-year-old child in the Pasar Rebo area, East Jakarta.

The abuse also went viral on social media. Where in the video uploaded by one Instagram account, the boy was shown with bruises on his face and several parts of his body.

"Both parents have been secured," said Head of Public Relations of Polda Metro Jaya Kombes Ade Ary Syam Indradi to reporters, Tuesday, October 29.

From the investigation, it is known that the abuse has occurred repeatedly. It was recorded that it was carried out from July to October 28, 2024.

The abuse was carried out by hitting with a belt and a broom.

In addition, YT, the biological mother, and ML, the stepchild, admitted that they were annoyed with the victim. Because, his behavior seemed to disrespect them as parents.

"The victim was left in Kupang since he was a baby so the victim's child did not know his mother," he said.

Currently, the victim has been taken to a safe house to receive treatment for his injuries and mental health.

"Placing the victim in a safe house accompanied by the UPT PPPA," said Ade.
