Deputy Regent of Garut Helmi Budiman (ANTARA)

GARUT - The Government of Garut Regency, West Java conducted an examination by sending a sample of the results of a swab test to the medical team in Jakarta to determine the health condition of a Garut resident.

This citizen is suspected of being exposed to the B117 corona after returning from a country exposed to the new variant virus.

"We have sent samples from the examination to Jakarta and we are still waiting for the results," said Deputy Regent of Garut Helmi Budiman in Garut as quoted by Antara, Tuesday, March 23.

Helmi said the medical team in the field stated that a Garut resident who had just returned from abroad was confirmed positive for COVID-19 based on an examination.

The Garut COVID-19 Handling Task Force, he said, checked it more intensively because the patient had a travel history from a country where the B117 corona case had been found.

"There are citizens who have just returned from abroad and tested positive for COVID-19, previously they worked in a country that has a new variant of the virus," he continued.

Garut Regency Government takes steps to anticipate so that the new variant outbreaks can be handled quickly and there is no transmission in Garut.

His party has also sent samples to Jakarta to confirm that the outbreak that infected it is due to COVID-19 or even a new variant of the virus.

"We are doing this because the PCR in us has not been able to detect the new variant virus," he said.

Regarding his identity, Helmi has not been able to tell him and only said that the patient is undergoing isolation for the healing process.
