3 SWCU Salatiga Students From Papua Die As A Result Of Drinking Oplosan Alcohol

SALATIGA - Three Satya Wacana Christian University (SWCU) students from Salatiga, Central Java, from Papua died after allegedly consuming mixed alcoholic drinks.

Salatiga Police Chief AKBP Rahmad Hidayat said the three allegedly consumed mixed alcoholic drinks at a rented house, Kemiri Village, Salatiga.

"Consuming alcoholic drinks with his colleagues was rented on March 6, 2021," he said as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 12.

The three students, namely Ovni Wakerkwa, Marpino M. Sipka, and Rudolf Carlos Kelanangame, are all from Mimika, Papua.

According to him, the three students had received treatment at the Salatiga Regional Hospital before they died.

The results of hospital examinations, he continued, also confirmed that there were no signs of violence or exposure to COVID-19.

The police, he continued, were still investigating the origin, type and content of the drinks they consumed.

A person suspected of selling alcoholic drinks to the three students, he said, has been secured and questioned.

There were also the three bodies of victims in the process of returning to Papua via Semarang City.
