SURABAYA - Chairman of the Regional Representative Council (DPD) AA LaNyalla Mahmud Mattalitti highlighted that 63 thousand hectares of government-owned assets in East Java Province have not been certified.

"We urge the provincial government to immediately certify assets", he said in a written statement reported by Antara, Friday, March 5.

He regretted that many assets had not been properly taken care of by the East Java Provincial Government. In fact, this can prevent the transfer of ownership, even corrupt practices.

Not only to the East Java Provincial Government, but the former Chairman of the East Java Kadin also asked the Kediri Regency Government to do the same for 1,013 land parcels that have not been certified.

According to him, this would create problems if not resolved, such as transfer of assets or misappropriation.

"We have regional heads who keep changing, but this issue remains untouched. I ask that this issue be taken seriously to be resolved immediately", said LaNyalla.

The issue of assets, he said, is crucial because the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) is also taking this seriously.

"Do not let this neglected asset issue be detrimental to the community. The regional assets are actually intended to improve the welfare of the community", he added.

As is known, the KPK found that many government-owned land assets in East Java have not been certified. This finding was revealed by the Head of the Prevention Task Force for the Directorate III of KPK Coordinator and Supervision Edi Suryanto, during a coordination meeting on corruption prevention at the Kediri Regency Government, Thursday, March 4.
