Mayor Of Bogor, Bima Arya, Is Ready To Compete In Pilgub DKI

BOGOR - Mayor of Bogor, Bima Arya Sugiarto, who is also the Chairman of the DPP PAN, stated that he is ready to become a candidate for governor in the 2024 DKI Regional Election if ordered by the party.

"As a party cadre, he must be ready to undertake party duties," said Bima Arya Sugiarto, in Bogor City as quoted by Antara, Friday, March 5.

This statement answered journalists' questions regarding the name Bima Arya, who was named as a candidate for governor in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Election.

Previously, the Secretary General of the DPP PAN Edy Suparno said that the name Bima Arya was prepared as a candidate for governor in the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Election.

According to Edy Suparno, his considerations included Bima Arya as the mayor of Bogor for two periods with many achievements. Bima Arya is currently the Chairman of the Association of City Governments throughout Indonesia (Apeksi) for the period 2021-2024.

Meanwhile, Bima Arya acknowledged that the DPP PAN had conveyed to himself to be ready for the DKI Jakarta Pilkada in 2024. "As a cadre, all must be ready," said Bima Arya.

However, Bima said that his tenure as mayor of Bogor was until 2023, so he still had many tasks to complete in the city of Bogor.

"My focus is currently still serving as Mayor of Bogor. My focus is not there yet. I don't think it is necessarily Jakarta. So, it is not a single option," he continued.

On the other hand, the time span of three years to 2024 is still long, still dynamic. "There are still many changes that will occur over the next three years," he said.

Therefore, Bima Arya does not want to speculate further regarding the 2024 DKI Jakarta Regional Election.

"I still want to focus on managing Bogor City. I still have a lot to do in Bogor City, namely the work programs of the Bogor City Government, such as overcoming COVID-19, overcoming poverty, structuring MSMEs, and so on," he said.
