The New News Of Red And White Vaccine, Government To Accelerate Private Lobby Production

JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, explained the development of the domestic production of vaccines known as the Red and White vaccine.

Wiku said that currently the government is trying to take a step further to prepare for the acceleration of vaccine procurement to its industrial context.

The trick is, the government invites private pharmaceuticals to work together in accelerating production. The goal is to ensure the production of large quantities of vaccines.

"Currently, opportunities for cooperation with the national private industry have been opened. Either to increase production capacity, facilitate preclinical testing and clinical trials, or expand the target market," Wiku said in a YouTube broadcast, Thursday, March 4.

Wiku said that the cooperation space that was opened as wide as possible to the private sector was still under the coordination of the government for downstreaming.

He insisted vaccines are a public good that no one should discredit for getting them.

"With serious efforts, Indonesia has the power to produce its own vaccines. This not only guarantees the fulfillment of vaccination needs, but also becomes Indonesia's potential in the future, to play an active role in achieving global health resilience," he explained.

For information, the Red and White vaccine has different progress in research institutions. This vaccine is carried out collaboratively by research institutes, non-ministerial government agencies, and universities. Among them are LBM Eijkman, LIPI, University of Indonesia, ITB, Unair, and UGM.

The development of the Red and White vaccine was carried out by the Eijkman Institute and PT Biofarma (Persero). This vaccine is expected to be completed in November 2022. The development was initiated by a research consortium under the auspices of the Ministry of Research and Technology or the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN).
