BANDA ACEH - A joint team from the National Police, TNI, National Narcotics Agency (BNN) together with local government elements destroyed 5 hectares of cannabis fields in Jurong Village, Sawang District, North Aceh Regency.

In this case the police succeeded in arresting 1 perpetrator who was the owner of the field. One actor with the initial name F managed to escape and was being chased by officers.

Lhokseumawe Police Chief AKBP Eko Hartanto said that the cannabis field was destroyed on Wednesday, March 3. The location is on a hillside with a distance of 2 hours on foot.

The marijuana field is difficult to reach by two-wheeled or four-wheeled vehicles. In the fields, continued Eko, it is estimated that there are 15 thousand cannabis stalks aged 2 months.

"The altitude varies. Tens of thousands of cannabis plants were destroyed in two locations. A total of five hectares. The cannabis plants are destroyed by pulling them out and burning them," he explained.

The perpetrator with the initials M could face life imprisonment. Meanwhile, the perpetrators who fled were still under development.

Regarding the estimation of the large number of cannabis fields in the North Aceh area, the Police Chief said that his party would continue to work together with the North Aceh Kodim and the BNNK Lhokseumawe to find and find these fields to be destroyed further.

"We urge the public to inform them if they find marijuana fields in Aceh, especially the Lhokseumawe Police jurisdiction," he hoped.
