Mount Sinabung Eruption Of Volcanic Ash Arrives In Aceh, People Are Asked To Stay At Home

JAKARTA - The spread of volcanic ash due to the eruption of Mount Sinabung in Tanah Karo Regency, North Sumatra, on Tuesday, March 2, reached several areas in Province Aceh.

"When viewed from satellite photos, it is estimated that volcanic ash has begun to cross or be carried to Aceh Province", said Head of Data and Information Section of BMKG Class I Sultan Iskandar Muda Aceh Besar Zakaria Ahmad in Banda Aceh, as reported by Antara on Tuesday.

He stated that the eruption of Mount Sinabung occurred around 09.49 WIB. Information from the Kualanamu Class I Meteorological Station Coordinator, that the height of the volcanic ash column reaches 1,000 meters, with the direction of movement from West to South.

"Volcanic ash has begun to be affected in the Southeast Aceh Regency area, and has spread to the South Aceh Regency area", he said.

Therefore, the Class I BMKG Aceh Besar appealed to people in the Southeast Aceh and South Aceh regions who had begun to be exposed to volcanic ash to reduce outdoor activities.

"Even if you have to leave the house, don't forget to wear a mask, wear glasses, close the food and water containers for consumption", he said.
