JAKARTA - As many as 22 COVID-19 patients in Southeast Minahasa Regency, North Sulawesi, have died since the outbreak of the pandemic in May 2020 to early March 2021.

"To date, 22 residents in Southeast Minahasa have died from COVID-19. This figure is an accumulation since the first case of COVID-19 in Southeast Minahasa at the end of May 2020", said Head of Southeast Minahasa Health Service Helni Ratuliu in Ratahan, reported by Antara, Tuesday, February 2.

She revealed that in total there were 671 cases of COVID-19 in Southeast Minahasa, with the number of residents who had been declared cured or had finished carrying out independent isolation totaling 607 people.

"There are 42 cases of COVID-19 patients who undergo independent care and isolation until early March", she said.

According to Helni, based on the epidemiological description of the spread of COVID-19 in Southeast Minahasa Regency, until the end of February 2021, the number of confirmed cases.

"The peak of the spread of cases occurred in January which reached 227 cases since the first case was in 2021 and the number of COVID-19 spreads began to decline since February", he said.

Chairperson of the Southeast Minahasa COVID-19 Prevention Task Force, Yani Rolos, said that although there had been a decrease in confirmed cases, her party was still tightening the implementation of health protocols.

"This spread can be controlled, provided the public adheres to health protocols", she said.

She asked the village and sub-district governments to monitor every traveler who enters and leaves their territory to control the spread of COVID-19.

"We hope that with the tough village program that has been launched by the government, it can be implemented optimally. The regency task force will continue to supervise its implementation", she said.
