South Sulawesi Governor Is Suspect, Bambang Widjojanto: Nurdin Abdullah Is Pathetic, A Perpetrator From The Ruling Party

JAKARTA - Former Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), Bambang Widjojanto, has highlighted the alleged corruption case involving the Governor of South Sulawesi (Sulsel) Nurdin Abdullah. Bambang Widjojanto highlighted a series of awards received by Nurdin Abdullah, who is now a corruption suspect.

"What is sad is that Nurdin Abdullah has (times) received awards that seem to 'glorify him' but instead exalts him, starting from the Bung Hatta Anti-Corruption Award, the Tempo Award, 10 Regional Heads of Exemplary Region to the 2020 Good Governance Award," said Bambang Widjojanto in a written statement to journalists.

Bambang Widjojanto, who is familiarly called BW, commented after the news of the South Sulawesi Governor Nurdin Abdullah's arrest operation (OTT) spread. In the early hours of Sunday, February 27, Nurdin Abdullah, who is usually called Prof. NA, was named a suspect in corruption in receiving gratuity for infrastructure projects in South Sulawesi.

"Proficiat (congratulations) need to be delivered, senior investigators and inquirer and their team at the KPK are still reciting for the benefit of the benefit even though they have to be under constant pressure because their patience and awareness are 'gnawed, disturbed & shaken'," said BW.

BW mentioned 5 facts related to the alleged corruption in South Sulawesi. Starting from the Makassar New Port (MNP) megaproject, the parties arrested were the contractor and Civil State Apparatus as structural officials for the provincial government.

"Third, natural resources (SDA) have always been an easy target for corruption through licensing 'transactions'. This fact confirms that it is not simplification to be focused on, but the 'buying and selling' of authority that must be monitored and continuously eradicated," he said.

Fourth, the corporate digital track record previously mentioned by BW as having indications that it is being 'preserved'. He gave an example of a corporation involved in a case at KPPU, namely PT. Agung Perdana Bulukumba. Its director, Agung Sucipto, is also a suspect with the Governor of South Sulawesi Nurdin Abdullah.

"Fifth, the perpetrators of crimes, some of them, have always been part of the ruling party or parties that are part of the power because Nurdin Abdulah, turns out, was proposed and supported by the ruling party," said Bambang Widjojanto.

BW hopes that the case of the Governor of South Sulawesi Nurdin Abdullah can be resolved by the KPK.

"If it is true that there is corruption in South Sulawesi and it is suspected of involving its governor, I hope that the KPK investigation will be willing and able to reveal all of it," he hoped.
