JAKARTA - Spokesperson for the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said the development of the COVID-19 cure rate this week was less than expected. Because the increase in the recovery rate tends to be lower than the previous week.

"The recovery rate has developed that is not expected. The increase in recovery this week is lower than the previous week, or decreased by 12.5 percent", Wiku said in a BNPB Indonesia Youtube broadcast, Thursday, February 25.

This week, the total weekly cure for COVID-19 increased by 61,803 cases recovered. Meanwhile, the total cure for COVID-19 last week increased by 70,850. The total accumulated cures since the start of the pandemic amounted to 1,121,411.

Even though nationally it has decreased, Wiku said there are five provinces with the highest increase in recovery this week.

"The highest recovery was West Java with 1,823 cases recovered, North Kalimantan by 701, NTT by 492, South Kalimantan by 290, and Bali by 174", said Wiku.

Therefore, Wiku asks local governments that have the lowest cure rates to increase their tracing, testing, and treatment (3T) efforts and to their communities continue to apply 3M health protocols such as wearing masks, maintaining distance, and washing hands.

"The development of positive cases should be continuously suppressed, while at the same time healing can be improved", he concluded.
