SUMBAWA - Former Village Head (Kades) Batu Tering, Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Mujiburahman (47) was found dead. The victim is suspected of being dragged away by the flood

The body of the victim was found by a joint search and rescue (SAR) team after being dragged by flash floods that hit the area on Tuesday, February 23.

Head of the Mataram SAR Office Nanang Sigit PH said the victim was found dead today, Thursday, February 25 at around 10.15 WIT.

"The victim was found about 10 kilometers from the scene at 10.15 WITA," he said.

Based on the report received from the Head of Batu Tering Alwan village, on Tuesday at around 17:25 WITA, the victim went to the rice fields by driving a car.

The victim parked his car in the middle of a dry river near his rice field. Knowing that there was water overflowing due to the heavy rain that flushed Moyo Hulu District, the victim tried to move his car.

But unfortunately, the victim and his car were swept away. The vehicle was found badly damaged near the Batu Bulan Dam, while the owner was not in the car.

Knowing this, the Mataram SAR Office dispatched personnel from the Sumbawa SAR Post and joined other potential SAR, namely the Sumbawa Regency Disaster Management Agency, TNI, police, social services, and the local community.

He said the joint SAR team had evacuated the victim to the funeral home from the discovery location at Batu Bulan Dam, Batu Bulan Village, Moyo Hulu District, Sumbawa Regency.

The joint SAR team conducted a search by following the river flow from the starting point of the victims being dragged by the flash flood to the Batu Bulan Dam using rubber boats, life jackets and other water equipment.

"With the discovery of the victim on the third day of the search, the SAR operation was declared closed," said Nanang.
