The AGO Is Still Investigating Whether There Are Any Irregularities In Papua's Special Autonomy Funds

JAKARTA - The Attorney General's Office will investigate the Papua special autonomy (autonomy) funds, which are indicated as deviations. But the AGO is still waiting for the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Mahfud MD.

"Later it will be conditioned with him (Mahfud). So we will judge whether it is true corruption or administrative errors, we do not know yet," said Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus) Ali Mukartono to reporters, Wednesday, February 24.

Ali said, based on a statement from Mahfud, the handling of this problem was not only handled by the Adhyaksa Corps. This is because all law enforcement agencies, the National Police, the KPK and the Attorney General's Office will be involved.

Ali said that the investigation of special autonomy funds was not only concentrated on the Papua region. Because indications of irregularities were also found in Aceh.

"We have been contacted by Pak (Mahfud) of the Ministry of Politics, Law and Security, the point is later when there is an assignment, get ready," he said.

"Not yet. We don't know what kind, how many, we don't know yet," said Ali about the existence of irregularities.

Previously, Mahfud MD emphasized that he would follow up and gather law enforcement officials from the Attorney General's Office, the KPK and the Police so that law enforcement immediately enforced law in Papua.

"I always listen to this matter of law enforcement when having dialogue with the community and Papuan leaders. Therefore we are following up, we are gathering the Attorney General's Office, the Corruption Eradication Commission, the Police, to bring this aspiration, we will follow up on law enforcement," said Mahfud.

Regarding various other proposals including the expansion of the province, the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs emphasized that he would follow up with two steps. First, the legislation process which will later be submitted to the team through the Ministry of Home Affairs.

"Second, I have asked deputy one of the Coordinating Ministry for Political, Legal and Security Affairs to immediately map it so that the division area is correct, including reviewing proposals from the heads of regions and community leaders," said Mahfud.
