JAKARTA - National Police Chief General Listyo Sigit Prabowo ordered the entire police force to carry out a urine test following a drug case involving the former Astana Anyar Police Commissioner Yuni, and 11 of her men.

In order to control, the National Police Chief has issued a Telegram Letter Number: ST/331/II/HUK.7.1/2021 dated February 19, 2020, regarding the implementation of urine tests.

Commission III of House of Representatives (DPR RI) hopes that the telegram instruction can be understood and carried out by the police. If necessary, the Chief of Police can impose penalties on members whose urine test results indicate drugs.

"Hopefully this urine test can be carried out regularly and can be an example for other institutions", Deputy Chairman of Commission III Pangeran Khairul Saleh told reporters, Tuesday, February 23.

According to Pangeran, the police chief's policy of conducting urine tests on the ranks should be appreciated. Given that as law enforcement officers, police should stay away from drugs.

Moreover, he said, the case of Yuni using drugs with her subordinates seriously tarnished the Bhayangkara Corps.

"(This case) seems to tarnish and slap the good name of the police corps. The police chief's policy is certainly commendable, as the front guard in facing the war against drug use", said Pangeran.
