JAKARTA - Information technology giant Alphabet Inc announced that it will stop donations to members of the United States (US) Congress who support opposition to the certification of the results of the US Presidential Election.

This was done after they conducted a reassessment of policies regarding contributions to politics. The reason was the rioting on Capitol Hill by the masses of Donald Trump supporters who rejected the results of the US Presidential Election.

"After that review, the NetPAC board has decided that they will make no contribution to this cycle, to any member of Congress who votes against certifying the election results," a Google representative said in a statement to Reuters.

Earlier, hundreds of supporters of former President Donald Trump stormed the hall of the US Congress on Capitol Hill on January 6, in an attempt to reverse his defeat in the Asian race, fight police security forces and delay certification of President Joe Biden's victory for hours.

Following the incident, Republicans who supported Donald Trump in Congress faced a backlash from several corporate companies that stopped campaign donations. The companies also said they were reviewing their policies regarding these donations.

Amazon.com Inc., AT&T Inc., Comcast Corp., Verizon Communications Inc., are among many large companies threatening to limit their fundraising resources to Republicans.

In fact, AT&T and Comcast are the corporations with the largest political donor funds in Washington. Of course this is a devastating blow to the Republican Party and the politicians who take part in it.
