JAKARTA - An earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 occurred in Melonguane, North Sulawesi (Sulut). It was confirmed that the earthquake had no potential for a tsunami.

The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) reported that an earthquake of 7.1 magnitude occurred at 19:23 WIB, Thursday, January 21.

The earthquake was located at 4.98 N-127.38 East Longitude. The location is 134 km northeast of Melonguane, North Sulawesi. The depth of the earthquake was 154 km.

"There is no potential for a tsunami," said BMKG information. There is no information about the impact of this earthquake.
