Trump Leaves White House Before Joe Biden Appointed

JAKARTA - President-elect Joe Biden and his deputy Kamala Haris are preparing to be sworn in as President and Vice President of the United States (US). Unfortunately, a few hours earlier, President Donald Trump left the White House and did not attend the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden as the 46th president of the US.

Reuters reported that Trump left the White House in Washington DC, hours before the inauguration of Joe Biden as the 46th US president. This has indeed been mentioned by Trump on several occasions.

"For those who have asked, I will not attend the inauguration on January 20," said Trump, before his Twitter account was suspended.

Trump's reasons for deciding not to attend are not yet known. However, he is rumored to be leaving for Florida January 19, 2020. With this, Trump is the fourth president to refuse to attend his successor inauguration following the Andrew Johnson era in 1869.

Of course, Trump's absence from the inauguration ceremony of Joe Biden, a break with more than a century and a half of political tradition, is seen as a way to assert a peaceful transfer of power.

With only a small number of attendees in attendance, Biden and Kamala will be sworn in before US Chief Justice John Roberts. Vice President Mike Pence represented Trump's absence at the inauguration ceremony.

Among the invited guests were Presidents Barack Obama, Bill Clinton and George W Bush. Including two famous singers, namely Lady Gaga and Jennifer Lopez.

The inauguration ceremony was held in front of the heavily fortified US Congress Building. About 25,000 soldiers have been on guard around the inauguration ceremony area, in response to deadly riots at the Capitol Building on January 6.
