8 Passengers Of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 Have Been Handed Over To Their Families For Burial

JAKARTA - Karo Penmas, Public Relations Division of the National Police, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, said that the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta has handed over the bodies of eight Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 passengers who have been identified as of today.

"Today, there are eight of the victims who have been handed over to their families," said Rusdi in a press conference held at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Monday, January 18.

The eight passengers whose bodies had been handed over to their families were Diego Mamahit who was the copilot of the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 aircraft; Oke Dhurrotul and Yunni Dwi Saputri who were flight attendants who joined as an extra crew; Ius Iskandar, Nelly, Rizki Wahyudi, Rosi Wahyuni, and Supiyanto who were passengers.

"So the total number of victims who have been identified and submitted to the family for burial totals 23 people," said Rusdi.

It is known, as of today, the number of passengers who have been identified has reached 34 people.

Most recently, the DVI team has identified five people, namely Fathima Ashalina M (2); Athar Rizky Riawan (8); Didi Gunardi (49) who is an extra pilot for Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 flight attendant; Gita Lestari (36); and Rahmania Ekananda (39). The five people were identified by DNA matching methods.

Previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane on the Jakarta-Pontianak route had lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport on Saturday, January 9, 2020. Furthermore, the authorities confirmed if the plane crashed around Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands.

The total aircraft carried 62 people, including 12 crew members and 50 passengers consisting of 40 adult passengers, seven children and three babies.
