5 Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 Passengers Were Identified, 3 Of Them With DNA Samples

JAKARTA - The National Police's Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team has again succeeded in identifying five Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 passengers who crashed in the waters of the Thousand Islands. So that the total number of identified passengers currently reaches 17 people.

"Today's reconciliation results have identified five victims," said Karo Penmas, Police Public Relations Division, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, in a press conference held at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Friday, January 15.

The five passengers who were identified were:

Toni Ismail, male, 59 years old Dinda Amelia, female, 15 years old Isti Yudha Prastika, female, 34 years old who is an extra flight attendant who took part in Putri Wahyuni's flight, female, 25 years old Rahmawati, female, 59 years

Of these five people, the DVI Team succeeded in identifying in two ways, namely by matching fingerprints like the previous identification and using DNA samples.

There are two people who were identified using fingerprints, namely Isti Yudha Prastika who is registered as passenger number 33 in the manifest and Toni Ismail who is on number 47 in the manifest.

Meanwhile, three other people, namely Rahmawati, Putri Wahyuni, and Dinda Amelia, were identified using DNA samples.

Head of the DNA Laboratory of the National Police Health Center, Kombes Ratna, said Rahmawati was identified by DNA samples taken from her son who was not on the flight. Because, on this flight, almost all of his family became passengers.

"Rahmawati is a family (on a plane, red). So we take it from her child because she has half of her mother, half of her father," said Ratna.

Meanwhile, for Putri Wahyuni, identification through DNA samples can be done by comparing the DNA belonging to her parents. Likewise with Dinda Amelia.

With the successful identification of these five people, now the National Police DVI Team has succeeded in identifying 17 passengers of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182. Where four of them, namely Okky Bisma, Asy Habul Yamin, Fadly Satrianto, and Ricko have been taken by the family.

Previously reported, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane on the Jakarta-Pontianak route had lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno Hatta Airport on Saturday, January 9, 2020. Furthermore, the authorities confirmed if the plane crashed around Male Island and Lancang Island, Thousand Islands.

The total aircraft carried 62 people, including 12 crew members and 50 passengers consisting of 40 adult passengers, seven children and three babies.
