SEMARANG - The Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) Central Java region recorded that 35 doctors who served in various regions in this province had died due to COVID-19.

"As of January 9, 2021, 35 doctors have died from COVID," said the Head of the Central Java Region IDI Mitigation Team Heru Muryawan in Semarang, Friday.

According to him, Central Java is in the third position nationally in the number of doctors who died as a result of this pandemic, in addition to around 193 doctors who are currently exposed to COVID-19.

The doctors who were exposed, he said, were undergoing independent isolation in homes, hospitals and other quarantine houses.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Central Java IDI, Djoko Handojo, added that health workers and assistants for health workers were the first targets in the COVID-19 vaccination.

In the group, he said that a co-assistant (Coass) doctor or young doctor was included in the criteria for the first recipient of the vaccine.

Heru gave an example of young doctors or co-workers at Dr. Kariadi Hospital Semarang and Diponegoro National Hospital who were registered as health workers who were vaccinated in this first stage.

According to him, vaccinating these doctors is an example for the community in an effort to resolve the COVID-19 pandemic.
