Ministry Of Health Proposes Sinovac Import Budget Of IDR 20.9 Trillion, Ahmad Sahroni: KPK Needs To Monitor

JAKARTA - Deputy Chairman of Commission III of the DPR RI, Ahmad Sahroni, asked the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to continue to oversee and supervise the funds for the procurement of the COVID-19 vaccine.

This oversight is necessary and important to avoid problems in the budget.

"As we all know, the budget for tackling COVID-19 is huge, therefore the KPK must really supervise it, not until it becomes a problem at a later date," Sahroni said in a statement quoted by Antara, Friday, January 15.

Minister of Health (Menkes) Budi Gunadi Sadikin submitted a budget for the procurement of Sinovac vaccine imports of Rp. 20.9 trillion. The Minister of Health submitted the budget proposal at the House of Representatives Commission IX Working Meeting (Raker) at the Parliament Complex, Thursday, January 14 yesterday.

Sahroni assessed that a large budget is certainly prone to corruption. KPK needs to increase oversight of the budget.

"Keep up with the whole process, make sure everything is clear and reasonable, and what is certain is that supervision should not be played around because this is a matter of life and death for the people," he said.

The NasDem Party politician also asked the Corruption Eradication Commission to work together and cooperate with other institutions in conducting supervision so that the results can be maximized.

According to him, this step is so that the process of procuring the COVID-19 vaccine from start to finish runs safe and clean.
