BEKASI - The Mayor of Bekasi, West Java, Rahmat Effendi asked all citizens not to worry or be afraid to be vaccinated against COVID-19 for common health and safety.

Rahmat said that the administration of this vaccine was the government's good intention in the efforts to tackle the corona pandemic or COVID-19.

"So let's see it, when our bodies are good, our condition is good, the intentions of the central government are good. The vaccine is to form antibodies to someone or residents to be safe," he said during a press conference at Patriot Candrabhaga Stadium, Bekasi, quoted by Antara, Wednesday, 13 January.

Rahmat revealed that there is no reason for Bekasi City residents not to be vaccinated considering vaccination is an effort to contain the increasingly worrying spread of COVID-19.

"Well, there is no reason not to accept being vaccinated," he said.

Rahmat admitted that not all Bekasi City residents have received the Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine due to the limited number of vaccine doses.

For those who receive an invitation to receive the vaccine, he said, don't waste this good opportunity by refusing it.

"But vaccines are limited, so it is impossible for 2.4 million Bekasi City people to be vaccinated all. People now only 14 thousand, so all of them are fighting," he said.

The vaccination program in Bekasi City is planned to be carried out in stages starting on January 14-15, 2021 by prioritizing medical personnel.

In the next stage, the Bekasi City Government plans to implement vaccinations at a number of health facility points that have been registered and appointed by the Bekasi City Health Office.

"For the community, there will be several points prepared by the Health Office. The first stage is for medical personnel," he said.
