The National Police Asked Families Not To Open The Coffin Of SJ-182 Sriwijaya Air Passengers

JAKARTA - Police Public Relations Division Karo Penmas, Brigadier General Rusdi Hartono, asked the families of Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 passengers who had handed over them not to open the coffin.

He said the family must believe that the Police DVI Team has been working as much as possible to identify the bodies of their families.

"Yes, I believe the team has worked professionally," Rusdi told reporters at the Kramat Jati Police Hospital, East Jakarta, Monday, January 11.

Rusdi said that after the passenger's body has been identified they will call the family. Usually, continued Rusdi, what the team got would be conveyed to the family so that the family could understand what the team from DVI and Kramat Jati Police Hospital had done.

"So that the family will no longer have problems and can accept it," he said.

"So we summon the family, we can be like this, and the family can accept," he added.

It is known that the National Police's DVI Team has succeeded in identifying a passenger on behalf of Okky Bisma who is a crew or flight attendant of Sriwijaya SJ-182 aircraft. This identification was successfully carried out through fingerprints found on Okky's right hand which matched his identity card (KTP).

Previously, the Sriwijaya Air SJ-182 plane on the Jakarta-Pontianak route had lost contact in the Thousand Islands shortly after taking off from Soekarno-Hatta Airport, Cengkareng on Saturday, January 9, 2020. In total, the plane carried 62 people, including 12 crew members and 50 passengers. The 50 passengers consisted of 40 adult passengers, seven children and three babies.
