OJK Fully Supports The Java-Bali PSBB, After All, The Financial Services Sector Is Still On The Way

JAKARTA - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) fully supports the government's policy in extending the large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) period in the Java-Bali region which is planned to be set on January 11-25, 2021.

Deputy Commissioner for Public Relations and Logistics of the OJK, Anto Prabowo, said that the move was believed to be able to move the economy in the corridor of efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19 in the community.

"In principle, we agree, especially the operations of the OJK financial services industry, namely the banking, capital market and non-bank financial industry in the Java and Bali regions, which continue to operate with health protocols," he said in an official statement, Thursday, January 7.

Anto added that the government regulation that includes the financial services sector in 11 vital business fields will continue to run with the capacity permitted by the state.

"This step is guided by Permenkes Number 9 of 2020 concerning PSBB Guidelines in the context of accelerating the handling of Covid-19," he said.

Furthermore, it was also stated that the OJK ensures that all financial service institutions continue to operate on a limited basis by obliging to implement the Health protocol. In addition, the authority also encourages business actors to maximize services through the use of technology.

"In connection with the implementation of the PSBB in Java and Bali, OJK always coordinates with the regional government and regional police chiefs in Java-Bali to ensure that the operational services of financial services institutions and investment transactions in the capital market run well," said Anto.

For information, based on the press release of the Coordinating Minister for the Economy on Wednesday, January 6, the PSBB will be implemented in DKI Jakarta and 23 districts / cities in six provinces that are high risk areas for the spread of COVID-19.
