JAKARTA - A total of 15 teenagers were arrested by the police when they were caught fighting on Jalan DI Panjaitan, Jatinegara District, East Jakarta, at around 05.30 WIB.
The perpetrators were arrested after the police received reports from the public who were starting to get restless.
"We did a patrol after receiving information from the public that there was a brawl on Jalan DI Panjaitan, after the East Jakarta Prosecutor's office. After checking, a number of teenagers were fighting," said East Jakarta Metro Police Presisi Dantim Ipda Aman Wibowo, Sunday, January 29.
Arriving at the location of the brawl, the brawlers had fled by motorbike.
Officers chased and managed to arrest a group of 7 teenagers.
'We chased and secured 7 teenagers. The team searched again and arrested 8 teenagers. A total of 15 teenagers were arrested," he said.
During a search, the police found a number of sharp weapons belonging to the perpetrators of the brawl.
At least 15 sharp weapons and blunt weapons were seized as evidence of brawl crimes.
"12 sharp sickles, 2 golf clubs and 1 steel bar were confiscated," he said.
Some of the perpetrators had evaded if they did not join the brawl.
He said that he only came from the Kemang area, South Jakarta, deliberately came to East Jakarta just to watch the brawl.
The perpetrators are strongly suspected of carrying out brawls with promises via social media. For further investigation, the perpetrators were handed over to the Jatinegara Police.
"Furthermore, the teenagers are handed over to the Jatinegara Police for investigation," he said.
