Head of BNN RI Komjen Pol. Petrus Reinhard Golose

JAKARTA - The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia strengthens supervision and action against the circulation of narcotics and cross-border criminal organizations (transnational organized crime) towards the end of the year.

Head of BNN RI Komjen Pol. Petrus Reinhard Golose said that the increase in supervision was one of the efforts to prevent the circulation of narcotics that could potentially increase during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

"The situation of arrests, especially narcotics issues, was improved towards the end of the year. We have also just revealed (the circulation of narcotics) in several places with a large number," said Golose, quoted from Antara, Saturday, November 26.

He said that the ability of dealers to produce narcotics, especially methamphetamine and marijuana, continues to increase, especially since Golden Triangle is a place that is a center for narcotics production in Southeast Asia has a laboratory that is believed to be able to produce its own precursors (drugs).

"They have a super lab (laboratorium, ed.) located in Golden Triangle. I will go there to coordinate with stakeholders related to narcotics control to suppress supply into Indonesia, especially the supply of narcotics," said the Head of BNN RI.

Golden Triangle is a remote mountainous area located in the border area between Thailand, Laos, and Myanmar. In Golden Triangle or also called the Golden Triangle of various types of narcotics such as opium, methamphetamine (metamphetamine), and synthetic drugs are produced, to be circulated to various countries, including Indonesia.

Related to that, Golose emphasized that BNN will not allow narcotics to enter Indonesia, especially Bali, which is one of the main destinations for foreign tourists.

"It is not permissible for Bali to become a destination for the use of narcotics. We have started operations, interaction operations, not only in Bali, but also in other cities," said the Head of BNN RI.

Not only strengthening supervision and prosecution towards the end of the year, his party also held various activities whose aim was to increase public understanding of the threat of narcotics.

In Bali, BNN RI held an anti-narcotic campaign through the Sing Against Drugs choir contest on November 24, 2022.

The Sing Against Drugs contest, which was attended by 335 participants from the 14 provinces, was won by the choir group that hosted Voice of Bali.

"The most important thing about me, (through the contest), messages through children, adolescents, even parents, that drugs are enemies," Golose said.
