JAKARTA - The lawyers team for the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, questioned their summons by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigators. They sent a letter asking for clarification on the examination effort.

"We ask the KPK for clarification first regarding the summons of both of us as witnesses in the case that made our client (Lukas Enembe, ed) a suspect," said one of Lukas' team of lawyers, Roy Rening, to reporters, Friday, November 18.

Aloysius Renwarin as a member of Lukas' team of lawyers was originally scheduled to fulfill the KPK's summons on Thursday 17 November. But the person concerned was not present.

Roy admitted that he was also one of the parties summoned regarding the case being handled by the KPK. However, Lukas' team of lawyers admitted to prioritizing the submission of a clarification letter first.

In addition to asking for clarification, these two attorneys also complained to the Indonesian Advocates Association (Peradi). They asked for protection and instructions for the summons of the anti-corruption commission.

The request for clarification arose because they felt that as attorneys they had an obligation to keep their clients secret. Not only that, both of them feel they have contributed because they facilitated the visit of the KPK to Jayapura to examine Lukas.

Roy said the two would not attend the KPK summons without a recommendation from Peradi. Moreover, they always work according to the code of ethics.

"All forms of legal assistance and advocacy against our clients solely uphold the rule of law and human rights and comply with professional standards guaranteed by law and code of ethics," he stressed.

As previously reported, the KPK mentioned that Lukas' attorney, Aloysius Renwarin, was absent from the investigator's summons on Thursday, November 17. Meanwhile, another name, Roy Rening, is not on the scheduled summons.

"The information we received was not present," said Head of the KPK News Section Ali Fikri to reporters, Friday, November 18.

In addition, a driver named Darwis was also not present at the examination. In fact, both of them will be questioned as witnesses to the alleged corruption that ensnared Lukas Enembe.

Ali said investigators would recall the two because the information was needed. It's just that, the exact time is not yet known.

Lukas Enembe has been named a suspect in alleged corruption by the KPK. However, he did not fulfill the investigator's summons because he was sick.

Furthermore, the anti-corruption commission left for Jayapura on Thursday, November 3 to examine Lukas. The inspection was carried out at his home.

At that time, the KPK team consisting of independent doctors and investigators were present led by KPK Chairman Firli Bahuri. Arriving in Jayapura, Firli also had a chance to talk with Lukas.

During the conversation, Firli asked about Lukas' condition and spoke for about 15 minutes. Even so, Lukas' examination did not last long because he was sick.
